Fashion Forecast Spring 2008

We have several new collections this season, including the Dutch casual brand “Sandwich” and an occasion label from Spain, “Roberto Naldo”. For “Oska” fans you will need to stretch the budget! The fabulous Michele linen trousers come in 6 colours, and ZaZies have a blinding array of colours in their “buckle” sweaters, as have Rendez-Vous. As always our collections evolve with the season, and we will have new stock to show you every week.

White, white and more white! White runs through every story, either as a highlight colour to one of the “non-colours” such as grey, beige, and black or as a softener to the bright colours that include yellow, purple, red and bright pink.

Mineral

Mineral

Two colour choices; silver grey, gunmetal and pewter combined with white, or soft gold and beige with surface shine mixed with white. Natural fabrics such as linen and cotton are woven with a metallic thread to add subtle shimmer. Fabrics are sometimes crinkled (after laundering roll and twist the creases back in.) and sheer fabrics are used as layering. Mineral is a sophisticated, streamlined, uncomplicated story with little print or over fussy detail. Key collections – Crea, Oska, Zone Bleue, Sistes and  Apanage.

Flowers and Foilage

Florals from sprigs to bouquets adorn many a fabric. A romantic look, that has a 1970’s hippy feel. Patchwork, tiers and ruffles give a bohemian flavour. Love or hate it, dip dye shading. Colours are bright, prints often have a black base. The tiered maxi dress that made it’s debut at the end of last Summer will feature again as will pretty feminine skirts, kaftan shape tops, billowing sleeves and diaphanous tunics. Key collections – Jeff Gallano, Save the Queen, Sandwich.

Mondrian

Mondrian

Bold primary colours. Choose one bold piece in one of the bright colours and wear it with either white or black for a striking statement. Colours are straight out of a paint box; red, purple, yellow, turquoise and shocking pink.  A piece of bold silver jewellery and you are ready to go! Key collections – Oska, Sandwich, Dolores.

Safari

This is a recurrent theme in the Summer, but always with a twist. Optic white is the highlight colour again, to brighten the olive and beige shades. Prints are either from the ubiquitous animal family, or bold foliage. Good accessories and jewellery, mixed with basic pieces can give an in-expensive boost to the wardrobe. Key collections – Apanage, Sandwich.
